The Burning, by JP Seewald
I found, The Burning, a complex story that kept me thinking about it long after I put the book down. I had heard of similar instances of fires burning underneath the ground when I lived in Alaska. Before then I had never heard of such a thing. The story is fiction but based on true life events. It follows the life of George, a seemingly ordinary man with a wife and children. He has spent his life, building up his mechanic shop, so that he wouldn’t have to work in the coal mines like his father, and he wouldn’t have to answer to anyone. Now, a natural disaster is threatening to take it all away. The prospects of starting over are almost too much to bear. His wealthy brother Larry is by his side the whole way, but there are deeper emotions to explore between these siblings, as things begin to melt down in the heat of a coal fire that’s burning out of control. Can George hold it together while everything he loves hangs in the balance? Find out by reading about this very real catastrophe in, The Burning. A compelling story about family and the importance of making the right choices in stressful life situations. J.P. Seewald is a gifted story teller in matters of life, heart and family.
