Happy 2018!

It’s that time again! Time to start the annual diet, beef up the exercise routine and try something different. It’s time to make plans to get out, to buckle down on those to do list and most important of all, to start writing! There is something about the first of every year that has everyone scrambling to change, to be better and to look at the world with a sudden fresh slate. I’m just like everyone in this annual idea of change and improvement. It’s cold and wet outside, my house was destroyed by a hurricane in 2017, and I have a list of things to do that will keep me backlogged for months, but I have a positive feeling that things will get better in the new year.

I am a believer that all things happen for a reason and though sometimes it is hard to understand why at the time of the occurrence, things usually find meaning for me in the end. We were looking at homes before the hurricane took away our home in Houston, and the property I fell in love with while house hunting suddenly became ours. We lost a lot of material items, but now we have a home that fits our needs and is an amazing property for all our fur and feather babies. What about the turtles? They will be here eventually too, but the tank was lost and they are temporarily being cared for by our turtle guy until the coy pond is built.

Writing was put on hold since August, but we managed to work through the edits for our urban fantasy. Blinked was released in November, on schedule. I had to hole myself up at the cabin to get it all done, and it was a real crunch to get it back within the time constraints, but alas, we did it!

There were several more close calls at the end of the year, and my hubby mentioned we seemed to be under a black cloud, but I reminded him of all the good. Two books were released in 2017, and we all had our lives to be thankful for after the storm. Our new home has me on cloud nine, and as most writers know, having a comfortable place to write is the most important part of the equation.

I started a story before the new year about a fictional town of Magnolia, TX which is a real town just north of Houston. I plan on buckling down to finish what I started before the hurricane. My goal is to have it ready to submit in 2018, and I have already written two other ideas for possible stories to start next. I see a light in 2018 that will carry us though the year with inspiration and warmth. To all of you who read this blog, I wish you a warm and prosperous year full of inspiration and good health.
